Wood burner

• Use the wooden handled door opener (see pic below) to open and shut the door. The door will get very hot!

• Please use the waxed straw fire lighters (only one or two needed) and some dry kindling wood to get it roaring before then adding larger logs.

Notes about the burner at Glencaple Tower:

• Pull the round knob to increase air flow for getting it started, then restrict air flow down once alight.

• Push the round knob fully in to kill off air to the burner and it will go out

• After each use, there will be ash settled  in the grate. If the ash is completely cold, you can clean it by rotating the lever on the right side up and down, then pulling the ask drawer out and emptying in the outside dustbin. Never discard hot ashes.
